Currey & Company
Currey & Company is a growing private company that was founded in 1988 by Robert B. Currey. The primary focus then was historic garden furnishings; today it is lighting. The garden influence is still there, however, expressed with an eclectic collection of garden themed furnishings and accessories. The reintroduction in October, 2006, of some of the original historic garden furnishings from the Winterthur Museum underlines the continuing presence of the garden in the company’s collections. Hand forged iron products have long been the specialty of the company, but it has expanded its range in recent years to include a variety of materials such as hand-carved wood, porcelain and brass. The forged wrought iron products come mostly from the Currey & Company factory in the Philippines. “Currey International” has also made it possible for the company to develop and produce a variety of unusual products and materials. One of these is the use of concrete which is hand formed to create fashionable furnishings of “faux bois.” Natural materials, such as seashells, also figure strongly in the Currey & Company product line.
